Direct to you from the VideoontheNet conference - some random notes - no pearls of wisdom just quotes. OK - My thoughts in .

The panelists current main focus:

  1. scripps - we are focusing on syndication and how to leverage the content and audience we have -

  2. vh1 -using the TV network to drive audience to the web - microcasting, pushing people to more stuff How do we build a brand around a topic? i.e. best of the web, webjunk,

  3. cnn - Replaying older coverage and finding the interesting news bits

Michael Hirschorn - how do you get people four or five screens in?

Advertising - how do you balance ugc with sponsorship -

Quotes from the moderator - Shelley Palmer:

  1. What is the killer app for video - is it limited to an event? shared emotional experience? distribution and production is fully democratized but promotion is not - the advantage of the networks

  2. Immersive - reach is huge differentiator

  3. When cable hit the market, fragmentation/channel surfing was the enemy - people want what they want when they want

  4. The internet builds the brands - not the other one around

Best quote from a panelist - - Channing Dawson: "when will my media be empowered to find me ?"

Runner up: "we do not charge advertisers enough for ads on the net"

Best audience question (from none other than Jack Hidary of iamplify - "what do you guys think about a marketplace for user generated content similar to an ebay for video content
