You mean something like this?


That is a map of my network neighborhood [1 and 2 steps from me] from an early OSN. I am the green node, my frineds are the blue nodes and their friends [FOAF] are the gray nodes. We see how my friends are connected, but do not bother to see hos their friends are connected.

Yes. The point that the Social Graph and Social Network portability folks are dealing with is the need for:
1-open standards so that we can map the entire network
2-the ability to port ALL of my network connections easily from place to place (site to site, app to app).

Right now it is WAY too complicated and requires too much heavy lifting on the part of the end user (me). The more things start happening out at the spokes the more important this becomes.
